'News editors don't prioritise arts & culture'

Most newsrooms are short of personnel which has often resulted in arts and cultural activities playing second fiddle.

This emerged at a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) media workshop on strengthening reporting and implementation of the 2003 Convention on the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Gaborone on Friday.

Some journalists attending the two-day workshop held at Tlotlo Conference Centre noted that while it might appear like they deliberately choose to ignore invitations to cover arts and culture events that was not the case.
