My Star yet to produce a star

Since its inception, none of the My Star winners have made an impact on the local music industry. Although the winners record albums as part of their deal, their releases have never topped the charts. Previous My Star winners have come to be treated like former beauty queens. When there is a new winner, not much is seen or heard about the predecessor. Most music followers have even forgotten about some of the previous winners.

This is unlike the Shell Road To Fame talent search show which used to be hosted in South Africa. The Shell Road to Fame talent search produced great musical artists like gospel queen Rebecca Malope and the popular Ringo Madlingozi.
