Motswana director takes production to Grahamstown

South Africa-based, Phala Phala is set to make this nation proud by becoming the first Motswana student at Wits University to take a production that represents the institution to the annual National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.

Speaking to Arts & Culture in an interview, Phala said that he would be directing Red Peter's Way Out, which is adapted from Franz Kaflak's short story bearing the same title. "I am proud to be the first Motswana student to take a production that represents the school at the National Arts Festival in South Africa. 

This speaks volumes about the talent, perseverance and skills that we possess as Batswana in theatre though we don't have a robust theatre industry in Botswana," he said adding that for the university to have chosen his production to represent it at the festival means they have faith in it.
