Vocalists Tshegofatso Serite and Moonga Kapambwe, and dancers Mophato Dance Theatre emerged the triumphant top three finalists in the Battle of the Finalists at Maitisong on Friday night.

In a closely contested show, the three moved closer to winning the P50 000 top prize ahead of The Royal Tenors, Jika Jive and popular Hip-hop dancers Flexyville. For the first time since the Battle of the Finalists began, the audience showed their displeasure with the judges' decisions.  The judges' panel comprised Tshepho Ntshole, Shike Olsen, Owen Rampha, Rosalyn Beukes, and guest judge Shanti Lo.

Part of the crowd booed when wonder boy Kapambwe was announced as the second finalist to make it to the top three.  Kapambwe, who had started his performance coming down the stairs in the hall where the crowd sat, sang a medley of songs beginning with a slow version of Usher's Oh My Gosh.  Backed by a band of two guitarists and a violin player, Kapambwe appeared to flounder during his second song, which the audience seemed unfamiliar with because even his staunch supporters stopped screaming and singing along with him.  Despite his not-so stellar performance, his charming stage presence did the trick.
