Millennium goes Kofifi

Mogoditshane's Millennium Jazz Restaurant on Sunday commemorated the once vibrant South African township, Sophiatown, which was demolished by the apartheid regime in 1955.

The club decided to celebrate Sophiatown because it was also a place of great entertainment.  The South African Afro jazz has a Sophiatown influence.  Sophiatown is always mentioned when it comes to the history of South African music, especially Afro jazz. 

Patrons turned up at the club geared up in Sophiatown style.  The streetwise Sophiatown gents used to be clad in white brimmed Stetson hats and Florsheim shoes as well as Viyella shirts.
