Though he has denied it, reports are rife that musician Chris Manto 7 (Baitshepi Mwanchisenge) is harboring political ambitions.

It is not yet clear which party he would be representing, but reports are that the likable musician, who rose to fame with the hit Zvaka Pressa in 2005, is aiming for a parliamentary seat in one of the constituencies in the Ngamiland region. After breaking into the music scene like a southerly storm, Manto 7 flopped in his second project two years later called The Journey Continues. He was meant to recapture his place as one of the country's elite musicians with the release of his third album, Amerikano in 2009.  Unfortunately, this venture also  failed to ignite the same excitement that his debut created.

After a two-year hiatus, critics have written him off. "I cannot comment on my gunning for political office, but I can tell you I am still very involved in music. My relocating to Maun does not suggest that I am finished or have given up on music," he said. With work on his new album almost complete, the Shakawe-born musician believes he is on his way to returning to the top of the music ladder."Amerikano was not a bad album. It was only that people expected me to continue with the same style as Zvaka Pressa.   As a musician, however, you need to be creative and explore other sounds," Manto 7 insisted.
