Long, hard road for Miss Universe Botswana contest

It will be a long, hard road for Miss Universe Botswana aspirants. The prestigious competition's semi-finals did not paint a good picture at all as the hopefuls stammered while attempting to answer even the simplest questions posed by the four judges.

Diamonds are the backbone of our economy and  all tertiary school students in Botswana should know how diamonds contribute to the country's economy; unfortunately, this information somehow escaped the contestants - most of whom attend local tertiary institutions.

At the semi-finals, the number of contestants were reduced from 22 to 12.  The contest's National Director, Safie Sekgwa, admits that he and his fellow organisers will have to double their efforts to aptly prepare the contestants for  the finals which will be held in October.
