Life experiences inspire Mandumbwa's art pieces

Crawford Mandumbwa does not paint with imagination - he reflects on every day life moments and activities in his artworks.

His recent exhibition at the Frame Gallery might have not been a big event but it was certainly a heart-warming illustration of how interesting the simplest aspects of our lives can often be. The Zambian painter's exhibition's theme - "Embracing Life" - was thus apt.

But it is Mandumbwa's easy-going nature that inspires his art pieces.  He explains: "I am an observant person who takes interest in almost every aspect of my environment at any given moment.  I listen to people talking and I watch them going about their daily business and I get inspired," Mandumbwa told Arts& Culture.
