Legendary Bannis works with Shanay

Legendary soul and reggae singer Greg Bannis, once christened Voice of Hot Chocolate, is on the verge of recording an album with local Hip-Hop star Neo Maruatona popularly known as Shanay.

Bannis, formerly a lead singer with the now defunct Hot Chocolate, linked up with the Botswana artist through viaNet, an international Internet music promotional company.The Caribbean native, Bannis, is a personal friend of viaNet chief executive officer, Gerald Kleinebreil - a Botswana-based German."Greg (Bannis) is quite excited about the prospect of blending his music with Shanay's.  I sent him information about Shanay as well as his music and videos and he was really impressed.  So he is really keen to work with Shanay and recording will soon be underway.  We are targeting early next year for the release of the album," Kleinebreil told Showbiz.

Bannis is presently on tour in Greece and is scheduled to travel to Austria later in the month before coming to Botswana to work on the album with Shanay.Kleinebreil believes the collaboration should place Botswana well on the global music scene since some of the songs will be sung in Setswana.Bannis is a professional entertainer and has toured the world with many groups with the last being Hot Chocolate.  He joined the famous outfit in 1992 and was with them until early this year.
