Lauri Kubuitsile among top 5

Mahalapye-based writer Lauri Kubuitsile has been shortlisted for the prestigious Caine Prize for African Writing.

Kubuitsile, one of five writers to make it to the shortlist for the influential prize, is the first Motswana to make it there.  Kubuitsile was shortlisted for her short-story In the Spirit of McPhineas Lata, published in The Bed Book of Short Stories (Modjaji Books, 2010).

The Bed Book is an anthology of short stories by Southern African women on the theme of bed.  Kubuitsile's quirky story is about how the spirit of a recently deceased village casanova forces the village husbands to improve their sexual skills.
