Kgosi Seboko's old house a deserted monument

No one, including her surviving daughter, Madulo Gaborone, has provided the exact date when Kgosi Seboko I's old house located behind the Balete main ward in Ramotswa was built.

 However, one thing is for certain it is one of those colonial era buildings found in tribal capitals around the country, which housed royals.  A rough guess would indicate that the house was built some time after 1912 since that was the time when the Balete Kgotla was shifted from Ntlha ya Godimo to where it is today.

A glance at this old structure gives one an idea of those years when most Batswana came into contact with western civilisation and how Dikgosi led the change into the new era though at times the royals were reported to use their privileged positions to stop the people from enjoying modern facilities.
