Gothic man Juju Boy's single Masikeng is making waves on radio. Released around November last year, the song is only gathering momentum now - and Juju Boy is proving that he is no one-hit wonder.

In an interview with Showbiz in Gaborone yesterday, Juju Boy - real name Kgotla Ntsima - said that he was not surprised that his single was only making waves now. " New releases usually take sometime before they peak because it takes a while for them to penetrate the market, in this case Batswana," he said.  He said that in some instances an artist can make the mistake of thinking his/her song is a flop but that may not be the case. He said that sometimes people have to hear the song more than once to appreciate it.  Some of Masikeng's lyrics include: "Isa bana ko masikeng, ke bat(l)a re sale rele two tonight. O seka wa itshwenya ka go apaya, ke t(l)a ke pakile take away....Ga ke bat(l)e ope are disturba, rena le tiro e tona tonight. So ngwana ako o time phone, yame ke sale ke e timile ke is eke bo ke tsene mo lapeng.  A re simolle mo mmeteng? Or re sianele ko beteng? Either way ngwana I'm making love right now."

"When it comes to his lyrical content Juju Boy always goes out of his way to strike the right chord. Take Hurt Me, for example, where the lyrics say, "Juju Boy o batla o mmohelela, Ke rata ke bapotswe jaaka tlalo la podi, Nthibe matlho o mpofe ka tukwi." Then again there is also his song, Emotional, which has a catchy lyrical content too. It goes, "Don't get it twisted, I ain't trying to be your boyfriend.... Ga ke bat(l)e emotional, nna ke ipat(l)ela sexual".Juju Boy explains that with Masikeng he was trying to be naughty but at the same time be serious and cater for a more mature audience.  He said that the lyrical content is aimed at them, hence it should appeal to them.Furthermore he said that Batswana should learn to appreciate his music and what it stands for.  He said that it still baffles him that people listen to Western songs with rich explicit sexual content but when he sings something that is not even close to those songs, they want to point a finger.
