It's all systems go for Masekela show

It is all systems go for the Hugh Masekela show at the Botswanacraft in Gaborone tomorrow.

Show organisers have indicated that everything has been going according to plan; so revellers can look forward to a night of first class entertainment. Masekela will be sharing the stage with our own Socca Moruakgomo and the Botswana Jazz Quintet.  Show promoter, Oliver Groth, said tickets have been selling well. He said yesterday that they were expecting Masekela in the country today.  Groth said Masekela had gone to perform in the Reunion early this week and would be "coming to Gaborone on Thursday".  Botswana is Masekela's second home as he lived in the country while in exile during the '80s.  He then teamed up with a local band, Kalahari and recorded the Techno bush album.  The album was recorded in a mobile studio.

However, Masekela left the country in 1985 fearing for his life.  He left for the United Kingdom (UK) with the band, which included amongst others John Selolwane and Banjo Mosele.
