History of Batawana in paintings

The history of Batawana was told in detail on Friday night during a display of fine paintings by Gatang Mologasele themed, Ba Sekgoma exhibition.

Attendants of the event held at the Debswana House in Gaborone were especially captivated by the narration of how Kachikau village in the Chobe district came into being, its strong links to the Batawana chieftainship wrangles which resulted in the morafe being split into two groups.

The conflict over who was to become the leader resulted in the formation of a group called Ba Sekgoma who followed Sekgoma Letsholathebe to Chobe while the other group remained in Ngamiland under Tawana Mathiba.
