Buoyed by a sensational display at Flavour Nabania's show early last month, local Afro pop ace Eugene Jackson is convinced local artists will hold their own alongside Loliwe hitmaker Bulelwa 'Zahara' Mkutukana on Thursday next week.

Eugene will also perform alongside the newfound jazz sensation when she launches her debut album in Gaborone on December 15.But Eugene has a high regard for the East London-born Zahara who made history by becoming the first newcomer to sell 100, 000 copies in a matter of days. Nonetheless, he will not shrivel and curl up under her shadow when she comes to Gabs next week.

His confidence flows mainly from playing off highlife crooner, Flavour, when the Nigerian performed at the Gaborone International Convention Centre three weeks ago.  "I got a huge reaction at Flavour's show," Eugene told Showbiz. "Now we have the lady of the moment coming, and I'm not going there to perform as though I'm waiting for Zahara to come.
