Entrepreneurship and Cultural Expo set for August

The Entrepreneurship and Cultural Expo, to be held at Maitisong, will begin next month. The three day event is expected to facilitate the growth of entrepreneurship skills and bring together people from different cultural backgrounds. The Expo will run from August 24-26.

Thandi Phiri, the regional promoter of the Expo, says the Expo will focus on teaching exhibitors how to identify and pursue business opportunities regionally. She said the organisers also aim to investigate the role culture plays on development.  "The Expo will feature local designers who we will give advise to and encourage to look at the business side of their work.

Designers will have the opportunity to showcase their designs at the Afro-lize Me Fashion show which is part of the Expo.  Other activities include the Regional Entrepreneur Forum, Afro Cultural Expression and an Outdoor exhibition," said Phiri.  Phiri is pleased to announce that Sonwabile Ndamase, famous for his design of the Madiba Shirt, which was made popular by the former South African president will be present at the Expo.Ndamase will  speak at the Entrepreneurship Forum; his focus will be on branding and what businesses stand to achieve if they brand themselves well.  Ndamase is the current executive president of the South Africa Fashion Designers Association (SAFDA).
