Duma fm fires DJ Sid without a salary

Duma fm, the Gaborone North radio station owned by controversial land mogul Said Jamali, has fired its programmes manager DJ Sid, without a salary, after the veteran radio personality refused to come to work, demanding disciplinary action against the station's consultant, DJ Robby Rob, Robin Chivadze.

Duma fm's manager, Alfred Busang confirmed yesterday that they have parted ways with DJ Sid after he absented himself from work without reason and added that he expects DJ Sid to take him to Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs for that decision.  Duma fm says they didn't pay DJ Sid  the April salary, but deny that they owe him salary for March.  However the station manager told Showbiz that they could have long sorted out outstanding payment with the veteran radio personality had he not taken the matter up with the courts.

"We will give him his severance pay, but we will do that in front of a mediator, since that's what he chose.  The problem is he doesn't want to come to the table.  He has allowed his problem with the consultant affect his relationship with the station," said the station manager, adding that the  former RB2 afternoon drive strongman, had signed a two-year contract with  Duma fm.  DJ Sid, it would seem, got himself on a collision course with Duma fm consultant, Chivadze, when he produced a report to the board of the station that did not go down well with the consultant, according to a recent Showbiz report.  While the station manager confirms that DJ Sid did report assault, Busang says the programmes manager did not give them the opportunity to resolve the matter.
