Botswana's representative at the 12th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, Lorraine Ditsebe still has part of her luggage stuck in the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines exactly seven months after the finals.

The event took place on November 24, and because the reigning Miss Earth Botswana was given extra gifts, her luggage exceeded the baggage limit for the airline she used. That meant she had to leave some of her bags behind. "My tenure as Miss Earth Botswana has been really challenging, I have had to save up for months to pay for my excess luggage which has been in Philippines since November.  This was due to the many gifts I got during awards of medals," Ditsebe told Showbiz. She added: "I also found tremendous favour with the owner of a mall (in Philippines) and (the gifts he gave me) increased my luggage."Ditsebe said she had since paid for the luggage and awaits its arrival anytime soon. She said she had almost given up on it with little support from the organisers of the local pageant."I think locally we have to work hard, pageantry here is not taken seriously compared to other countries."

Ditsebe was barely prepared when she went to represent the country in the pageant, with her trip hanging in the balance until the 11th hour. She had to travel without some important prerequisites and a pitiful wardrobe after failing to get a sponsor. The 20-year-old said: "A queen should be well prepared when they go for an international competition.  Pageant organisers must learn to find sponsors before they find a queen because this can be really stressful when done late." Meanwhile, Ditsebe was one of the judges at this year's Miss Southern Central Tswana pageant at Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School over the weekend.
