Catch Jazz 22 launched in grand style

Gabs' new jazz cafe, Catch Jazz 22 was opened in style on Friday, featuring a South African group, MMP jazz band.

Although the new joint had been operating for some weeks, it was officially opened last Friday. Handful jazz lovers turned up for the launching ceremony.  Amongst some of the local artists who graced the occasion was the sensational lady of song, Punah Gabasiane.  But unfortunately this time around she had not come to perform.

But there was much fanfare, as jazz melodies vibrated throughout the evening. MMP Jazz Band captivated the small crowd, with saxophonist Jabu Dlamini being particularly outstanding.  The Johannesburg group managed to draw revellers to the stage as it rendered out jazz grooves.  MMP jazz band had another show at the club on Saturday.  This time they shared the stage with Citie Seetso who has also signed under their stable.  After the group's performance, it was the local jazz DJs who kept the home fires burning.  The DJs who performed on the night included McJon Mosenene, Peter Tshiamo aka DJ Peter T and Soares Katumbela who is known in jazz circles as DJ SK.  And what an awesome combination the trio made.
