Captain Dira releases Rraagwe Software Two

Former traditional music icon, Captain Dira, has released another Mbaqanga album under the Rragwe Software series. The eight-track album, titled Rraagwe Software Volume Two, hit the market last Friday.

Captain Dira reinvented himself last year after two years of doing traditional music, borankana, and is keen to carve a niche for himself in a new genre.

"This is my second album under the Rraagwe Software series.  Most people know that I started off singing traditional music until last year when I felt I could do much better in Mbaqanga. The general feeling is that the market for Mbaqanga is bigger than that of traditional music in this country," Captain Dira told Showbiz. Although the new album is categorised under the Mbaqanga genre, it is well-balanced with a very fine, manipulative combination.  It has a touch of ragga, dancehall, house and disco - and Captain Dira is convinced "one can't look for something in it and fail to find it".  One track that is expected to be a hit is Come Duze - a fast song with a fusion of disco and a slight touch of Afro.  He features Bonny Fisher in the track while little-known muso, Seven/11 also plays a part in some of the songs.
