Bally riding on Hype On Grace

Hip Hop Gospel artist Karabo 'Bally' Leburu's 2006 album Hype On Grace is getting rave reviews online, after being used as a demo for a new mobile digital application, which only plays an album from an internal player within a smart-phone in an effort to thwart piracy.

The seven-track album, which was Heaven Sent Productions' first project, had over a thousand downloads online in the first week.Songs like Across The Cross, Suffering For Jesus, Rapping For Jesus and He Made You have endeared the music producer with rap fans, six years after the album was released. Bally is excited about the development and now looks to release his final 'Holy Hip Hop' album, Grace Period.  His second album was Fall From Grace three years ago. "It means a lot to me Intellect (Itumeleng Garebatshabe) decided to use it for the new application because it was the first album to be produced at Heaven Sent Productions.

It did well; we had a thousand downloads in the first week so people have responded positively," he told Showbiz. The album was one of the first Gospel rap projects in the country. "People were fascinated that there is a guy who raps about God," noted Bally. However, Bally's mission was not to mesmerise people - his desire was to share his story of salvation."I called it Hype On Grace because I had just been 'born again' and was excited about the whole experience. I was riding on the 'hype' of God's grace. That's why I decided to call it that."Interestingly, his second album was also birthed out of his experiences as a believer. "When I released Fall From Grace I had gone through a lot in my walk with God.
