Baboneng Shows Preview

Comedy and drama sit side-by-side in the one-and a half hour-long feature A Lorato Ke Lone Le O, produced by Baboneng Film Productions, a Gaborone-based television production company known for its straight-to-DVD video productions.

At the media preview of the film, held at Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC)'s Bonatla Restaurant, writer and director Seabelo Kesebonye said the film was inspired by his realisation that nowadays, true unconditional love does not exist, that most marriages and relationships are founded on materialism.

The film revolves around Kedibonye, played by Portia Mogome, a beautiful girl who juggles her two relationships with her young financially insecure lover Samuel (Joe Chiepe) and her richer older man Dan (Richard Timane) who spoils her every chance he gets.  Under pressure from her mother Mma-Kedi, played convincingly and comically by Tebogo Mathware, to marry Dan to ensure a comfortable life, Kedibonye says that she does not love him, and that he is too ugly, however, she cannot bear to be like her friend Boammaruri (Wendy Isa) who is in love with a young man her age who does not have much.
