Alliance Francaise Photography Competition now On

Alliance Francaise is offering a chance to aspiring photographers to test the level of their skill by entering a photography competition.

The annual competition, which is in its 3rd year running, calls on non-professional photographers aged 18 and older to submit their entries and stand a chance to win a trip to Paris. Speaking to Showbiz, the coordinator of the competition Hannah Rochetaing said they started accepting submissions for the competition at the beginning of last week and said they are using all social media, newsletters and posters to spread the word about the competition:"The theme for the competition this year is Jobs of The World and the picture should show women and men in the extraordinary diversity of their jobs," she said.  The theme can be interpreted broadly by the  photographer  who can capture both his or her traditional and modern view of the job. Rochetaing added that this year's competition also serves as an opportunity for the photographers to discover different occupations and observe how they have evolved over the years. Both men and women are encouraged to enter.

According to Rochetaing, after making a selection from Botswana, the winner's work will compete with photographs of other entrants from the different Alliance Francaise branches. The overall winner stands a chance to go to Paris on an all-expense paid trip and will also have a solo exhibition in a Parisian gallery. Those entering the competition are expected to submit two photographs for entry . Applications can be sent to culture@afgaborone .org or be hand delivered at Alliance Francaise. The deadline is the 10th December, 2012.
