The workshop, to be led by renowned Mahalapye-based writer Lauri Kubuitsile, is to be held under the topic "Getting Published." It is the second in a monthly series of writing workshops, following a successful first session on writing short stories, held last month. It will be held at Maru-a-Pula School, starting at 2pm.
A statement from WABO says the two-hour workshop will be divided thus: the first hour will be dedicated to learning about getting published, while the second hour will be set aside for writers interested in sharing their work and getting it critiqued by other workshop participants. Having work read and critiqued will be on a first come, first served basis, the statement said, further advising writers to bring as many copies as possible for other participants to be able read and critique their copy with ease. WABO workshops are free for WABO members, and P20 for non-members. Workshop leader Kubuitsile is fast-becoming Botswana's leading literary export, having been the first Motswana to be shortlisted this year for the Caine Prize for African Literature, the most prestigious prize for African writers. She also has 14 published books, including a detective series, romance novels and children' stories. She has won the Golden Baobab Prize in both 2009 and 2010. She recently revealed on her blog (http://thoughtsfrombotswana.blogspot.com/) that she is working on a collection of short stories she is hoping to self-publish as an electronic book.
