It was back to the roots as an incessant poetic display from Botswana traditional poets stole the show at the 'Maun International Poetry' Festival held at Maun lodge on Saturday.

The poetry festival organised by the Maun-based poetry group 'Poetavango' pitted together poets from southern Africa and as far as the United States of America for a performance that left many who attended the show calling for more. While obviously there was a lot of diversity in terms of the poetic styles and expressions, it was the traditional poets who thrilled the crowd more.

One of the performers, Ntirelang Berman set the momentum when he recited a poem called Magosi the poem went in part:
Magosi bua le nna (Kings talk to me)
Badimo ba etsho bua le nna (My gods talk to me)
Ke Ntirelang ke fana ka nare. (I'm Ntirelang, my totem is the buffalo)
Ke mosimane o moroto o mogote (My loins are powerful)
Magosi bua le nna (Talk to me my kings)
