15-year-old Matinkeja on tract to become supermodel

At first sight, Peggy Matinkeja looks like any other schoolgirl; her hair is pushed back with a silver Alice-band while bright-pink hair-clips help to keep it slicked back, the two rucksacks she carries bear some pink, and her black jeans are tucked into her Converse sneakers.

But, as the contents of one of her rucksacks illustrate, the 15-year-old may be on a fast track to a modelling career beyond her imagination.

In an interview Arts and Culture held with her and her mother Doris Matinkeja, unassumingly bandies around names of top model casting agents like Wilhelmina, Ford, Trump and Paris Model Management.  These are just some of the more than 60 modelling agents that have expressed interest in representing and working with Peggy, following her participation in the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) convention held in New York, United States of America (US), last month.
