Young basist Tamukate takes everyone by storm

Legendary local guitarists like John Selolwane should not worry that there will be nobody to take over when they retire. Already, there are many youngsters who are coming up, especially in the Afro jazz category.

 One of them is 23-year-old Kabelo Tamukate, a bass guitarist who has been making a name for himself. The young bassist has been appearing at a variety of shows featuring Afro jazz giants like Banjo Mosele.

A member of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), Tamukate launched his musical career at church some five years ago.  He started by playing drums before switching to bass guitar.
