YOBO wins USAID Commendation

The Youth Health Organisation has been commended by one of its financers USAID for having made significant strides in strengthening human resources and financial management systems and increasing the reliability and timeliness of its monitoring and reporting systems.

USAID country director Joan LaRosa said at YOHO's 'Voice of Power' Performing Arts Festival at Maitisong on Friday that their organisation was looking forward to continued support to the youth organisation to help it grow and mature and achieve its goals and objectives through creative, entertaining and thought provoking activities and programmes.

She noted that donor support has enabled the organisation to grow over the past seven years to full 59 staff positions and 90 committed peer educators in 10 districts - Gaborone, Jwaneng, Lobatse, Hukuntsi, Gantsi, Kasane, Boteti, Francistown, Mahalapye and Serowe. "Since its inception the organisation has been uniquely positioned to develop and deliver effective programmes targeted at youth in Botswana, to represent the voices and perspectives of youth throughout the nation and globally," LaRosa said.
