Wear the tshega with pride-Shumba

Traditional music rising star, Shumba, who dons a tshega when performing, says he "feels fine" with his bare buttocks and has no intention of taking it off. Many of his fans prefer him like that. Recently, he came on stage wearing a tattered pair of shorts during the Dikakapa DVD launch but the fans were quick to shout that he should have gone back stage and worn Tshega.

He obeyed the command and when he came back for his second song, he looked like a traditional motswana herdboy, bare upper body and a piece of animal skin covering his "private" area. Their loud cheers confirmed that they got what they had "bargained" for.

Most male traditional dancers prefer to use the phaeyana, which covers both the buttocks and the front part. But Shumba says there is nothing wrong with him exposing his buttocks.
