Vee dominates Slizer in album launch

Even before their nationwide tour kicks off, questions abound as to whether the much-celebrated collaboration by female dance sensation Slizer and the king of House Kwasa, Vee will last the distance. The collaboration had its first real test during the launch of the album on Saturday, where Vee seemed determined to dominate her counterpart on stage.

It was Vee who was addressing the revellers on the night, while Slizer took a back seat when the pair was on stage. Initially each seemed to be eager to promote individual image as both main attractions performed individual albums at the Chez Ntemba garden before pairing briefly to sing a few songs from their new collaboration, Tsikitsiki.

The collaboration album and its accompanying music video are both reported to be performing well on the market so far.  However, as the duo launched the album in Mogoditshane, the crowd never got their money's worth. Vee wa Mampela seemed to turn the whole thing into his own show leaving Slizer and her fans at their wits end. It is understood the collaboration has come at an opportune time for Vee Wa Mampela, whose latest release has not been as well received as his previous projects. This joint album is seen as presenting the opportunity for Vee to redeem himself. The Taku-taku star set tongues wagging with his decision to go beyond the four songs limit imposed on both artistes by the MC.  He performed hits from his last seven albums, consuming two hours in the process. Vee even went as far as performing stunts and theatrics with his dozens of dancers on stage.  Slizer, on the other hand performed only two songs from her debut hosteller, O tswa kae, before paving the way for Vee to enjoy the limelight. Both main attractions had hardly spent an hour on stage performing hits from their new collaboration, when lights went off and the crowd was dispersed from the garden soon after.   Slizer and Vee took to the stage with less than an hour left before   12 midnight - the closing time of the show.  In fact twice -warning lights were switched on and off to warn the duo to get off stage. Not that the organisers were stingy with time on the night or the law enforcers were at it again. A chunk of the time was eaten up by Vee himself performing hits from his seven albums up to his latest release while Slizer, turned into a spectator. Slizer on Sunday was reluctant to discuss the Saturday fiasco but close sources tell Showbiz that the O tswa kae star was not amused by Vee's behaviour on the night of the launch of their collaboration album. Vee was not immediately available for comment as his mobile phone was unreachable at the time of going to press. The marketing manager of Dargie advertising Mox Gaolape said they have acted promptly to deal with the problem. "We were quick to notice that challenge and we have since talked to both celebrities. It is a challenge working with household names, but we are confident we can handle the situation.
