A university is by nature a melting pot of cultures and languages. It attracts people from the host country and abroad, who either come as students to learn or as administrators and lecturers to facilitate the learning process.

The event, themed Cultural Diversity: Celebrating Our Differences attracted Cubans, Kenyans, Basotho, Somalis, Nigerians, Swazi people, Kenyans and even  French speaking people, who came through the French institution, Alliance Francaise. One of Botswana's notable cultural groups, Kamanakao was also represented at the occasion. In this event, it was a meeting between Africa, Europe and the world in general. The event signified the fact once stated by a singer who said 'people are the same, everywhere.' In a university hall, here in Botswana, Nigerians, Cubans and Basotho communed and shared their varying cuisines with ease and comfort.
