Towards a cultural revival

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana looks set to experience a cultural renaissance that could bring out her true identity if the musical reawakening that the country has been experiencing over the years is anything to go by.

It was precisely in 1997 that I did an article for Mmegi about a renaissance of Botswana music. I had seen the musical tsunami that was about to hit these shores first hand and could not help proclaiming that the country was about to witness a phenomenal musical deluge never before experienced.

To put you into the picture, this is how it happened:  I was working for Exporters' Association of Botswana  (EAOB) now called Botswana's Exporters and Manufacturers' Association (BEMA) under the indefatigable, Eitlhopha Mosinyi.
