The Maitisong festival is here!

THE 2007 Maitisong Festival gets under way this week, with 10 variety shows scheduled to run from March 16 to March 31, 2007.

This year marks the 21st Anniversary of the annual Festival and it is the first to be held without founding father, David Slater, who parted ways with the Maitisong office towards the end of last year to pursue other interests. Durban-born Aldo Brincat, who is also Head of the Drama Department at Maru-a-Pula school, is organising this year's festival.

The event coordinator, Brincat, says this year they have not been able to solicit funds from potential partners which would have enabled them to improve in some areas. He said the fact that Slater left at the end of the year created some logistical problems as sponsors were not used to dealing with the new team that remained behind.
