Taxpayers' Money Must Go To Youth

Elsewhere in the Monitor publications, I attempt to make the case for a deliberate policy in the use of taxpayers' money, limited as it is, only in the direction of the disadvantaged sections of the Botswana communities.

The principle one wants to establish is that in a kind capitalist dispensation, we should assume that the rich will generally be able to find the place, time and resources to promote their endeavours, particularly if they are of the type that will return profit.

The duty of a kind government then, is to reach out to the disadvantaged or, in the modern parlance, the marginalised or less resourced, by helping them to climb up a little further up the stairway in the direction of the more 'fortunate' in order to improve their lot.
