Student Dramatists Defy Weather To Mount Great Show

Friday morning saw a grey sky and a windy day, but the bleak weather was not going to dampen the spirits of any of the Maoka Junior Secondary School students, who held their annual prize-giving ceremony on the themed Hard work and commitment: Good recipe for success.

After everyone settled down in the tent amid decorative balloons and banners, National Anthem, an opening prayer and a welcoming address from acting school head. B. Ongadile, the students were given a chance to show their talents in poetry, drama, karate demonstrations and traditional dance performances.

The first on the programme of the day was Form Two student Oratile Dube, who recited a poem she titled, My intuition. Focusing on the theme of education and ambition, and presented in a strongly poetic and confident voice, this young girl impressed the audience with her diction and writing skills.
