Socca 'utterances' rile local artistes

Artists have reacted angrily to Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) president Socca Moruakgomo's comments last week that "local musicians are lazy".

Moruakgomo made the statement as reasons he used a South African backing band during a local festival held at Gaborone's Fairgrounds recently. He said at times when he called local artistes for rehearsals they failed to turn up because they were not capable.

But Norwegian based artist Banjo Mosele dismissed Moruakgomo's utterances as  nonsense. He said the trumpeter was not telling the truth. Mosele said they were shocked by Moruakgomo's utterances. "We are not happy with what  he said.
