Sister Bertinah controversy reaches Botswana

Meanwhile, Botswana got a taste of the controversy surrounding the three versions of the hit kwaito track, Sister Bertinah, last weekend when two rival singers of the same track came to perform in Mahalapye and Jwaneng. That was when it became clear that what many have been thinking that it is two versions of one song by the same artistes is actually the work of rival musicians. The two rival groups used commercial radio station RB2 to market their shows, each accusing the other as fake.

In Mahalapye, one group going by the name of Mogarimbe, featuring Jabu, claimed to be the original Sister Bertinah performers. Interestingly. Jabu's name appears frequently in the track. He happens to be the man behind most of all those vulgar lyrics that make Sister Bertinah a hit amongst dance music fans here and in South Africa.

Before proceeding to Mahalapye, Jabu and Mogarimbe added to the controversy by going live on RB2 and dismissed each other as fake. Both also announced that they were currently fighting a third party, DJ BG T, in the courts of law for stealing their song.
