The Botswana Entertainment and Promoters (BEPA) will this week organise a two-day workshop for local promoters at the Gaborone Sun.

Monageng said the aim of the workshop is to instil a common understanding of the promotion industry to all stakeholders and benchmarking from renowned South African promoter and facilitator Peter Tladi of T-Musicman. Tladi is the chairman of the South African Music Promoters Association (SAMPA). Monageng said they have invited promoters from all over the country for the workshop.
He said on the evening of the last day of the workshop, BEPA would organise a music extravaganza atMillennium Jazz Restaurant, which will be showcasing local artistes.
He indicated that Tladi would be auditioning both established and upcoming artistes for performances in South Africa.
Monageng sees the event as an initiative by BEPA to expose local artistes and solicit business opportunities for them.
He emphasised that T-Musicman is a renowned promotion company, which has organised a number of shows in South Africa, and the idea, is to bill some of the local artistes in such shows.
The audition is open to all artistes who play all types of music.  Monageng said the line would include the cream of local artistes in the likes of Socca Moruakgomo, Shanti-Lo, reggae maestro "DT", Ndingo Johwa, Mphempheretlhe, and Steppin Razor.  Monageng appealed to promoters interested in attending the workshop to contact Soares Katumbela at 72692401, by today (Tuesday).
However, he said, they have already sent out invitations.
The BEPA spokesman said this is going to be an important workshop that would go a long way in imparting skills to promoters.
He said the objective of the association is to contribute substantially in making a difference to the lives of local artistes.
BEPA was formed last year after a workshop conducted by the Department of Youth and Culture.  "We are indebted to the department for bringing entertainers and promoters together," he said.
He indicated that although the association is still in its infancy they have already organised a number of activities.  He added that the workshop is among the events lined up this year.
