Rantao's greatest expectation: To be the next Miriam Makeba

Local diva Kearoma Rantao aims at becoming the next Mariam Makeba who recently died in Italy after being taken ill at a charity concert.

"I have been inspired by Mama Africa, as Makeba was fondly called. I would like to be like her. I think that is what I want to end up as a musician," says the songbird.

Rantao says Makeba, who was driven into exile by the racist apartheid regime in the 1960s, never gave up despite the challenges that she faced in life as a black female artist.
