The second edition of Pop Stars Botswana was officially launched at Botswana Television (Btv) Auditorium last Friday evening amid poor turnout.

This first ever music talent search in Botswana was introduced last year by reggae musician and producer Keabetswe 'Master Dee' Sesenyi in collaboration with Mascom. Its objective is to promote music talent in this country. The winner of the competition is awarded a lucrative recording deal in the United Kingdom and some price money.

Speaking at the launch, Head of Culture and Performing Arts Division in the Department of Culture and Youth, Dineo Phuti, commended Sesenyi and Mascom for a strategic partnership towards a common goal of helping the youth. "When we talk about strategic relationship we refer to a relationship of this nature, where companies or individuals come together in pursuit of one goal, which in the case of Pop Stars Botswana is to promote music talent in the country. This is indeed a commendable effort that needs to be encouraged and supported as it can contribute to the economic diversification process," said the guest speaker.
