Pop Idols show accomodates musicians

Keabetswe "Master D" Sesinyi, one of the directors of the inaugural Btv music show, Pop Idols Botswana, has defended the appearance of musicians who have released albums on a programme many believe is meant to expose untapped talent.

In other parts of the world, Pop Idols shows feature unpublished talent but here it includes musicians who have already released their own albums as soloists, or groups. Musicians Kabo Matlho, known for his R&B inclination, and Gorata, a keyboardist and vocalist with family group, Gospel Interlock, are among the 21 finalists for Pop Idols Botswana.

Kagiso has also featured in a local album before. Master D says he does not have any problem with this situation. In fact, he says, during their tour of the country when they were looking for talent for the Btv show, there were many musicians who have published albums who tried their luck.
