Pop Idol Losiapheto Eliminated

Lorato Losiapheto on Friday saw her journey in the first-ever Botswana Pop Idols competition prematurely come to an end after the judges decided her fate. Three others have already been eliminated because they failed to pitch up for the show, while Losiapheto is only the second pop star wannabe to be eliminated from the Botswana Television show, which started with 21 singers.

Losiapheto, however had only herself to blame for the boot. There was no way the public would cast their votes for her after her previous show in which she displayed so much stage fright. She froze again on Friday when she was presented with the golden opportunity to save herself by performing for the very last time before the judges. The shy-looking star wannabe failed to rise to the occasion. You could still hear in her vocals that shyness that characterised her performance the previous weekend.  At least she now knows her weakness and hopefully she will work on it and relaunch her dream career through other means.

She was the most unlucky one of the three pre-selected for elimination.  Obviously she sounded more talented than another possible evictee Michael. However, Michael was literally saved by the bell when judges decided which of the three nominees should remain in the running. The third contestant, Naledi, saved herself with the performance of a lifetime, which left many wondering why she had not put in the same effort in her previous appearances.
