Poetry lovers in for a treat

Poetry lovers are in for a treat tomorrow, as Live Poets will be dishing out poetry at the Cattle Baron situated at the BBS mall in Broadhurst, Gaborone.

But wait a minute, poetry will not be the only thing on the programme as there will be story telling as well. The performance is open to anyone interested in attending and it is free. Non-members who would like to bring a story or poem are free to do so as there will be an open mic. There will also be a poet's menu and drinks on promotion.

Live Poets was established in 2002 and it is composed of poets, storytellers, and other promoters of the spoken and written word in Botswana. The poets and writers, under the auspices of The Writers Association of Botswana (WABO), have been meeting monthly at popular venues in different parts of the city. "We meet for readings, recitations, performance and story-telling to live music and drumming, on the last week of each month." A spokesperson said yesterday. Establishments that have been hosted and sponsored the group include Meropa Jazz Club, Falcon Crest Suites, McJon's, Mambo Jazz Cafe, Fishmonger restaurant, Segwana, Red Bull, and Momentum Wines.
