P750, 000 for Mascom BOMU Awards

Cell-phone giants Mascom on Tuesday evening unveiled a record P750, 000 for this year's Botswana Music awards, to be held on October 31 at he Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC). The sponsorship triples from the P250, 000 sponsorship of 2007.

The cell phone giants have been in partnership with the Botswana Music Union (BOMU) for the awards since 2006, and on Tuesday announced they would be the sponsors for a further three-year term.

The launch at the GICC was a yellow tie affair, symbolic of Mascom, as BOMU officials and Mascom representatives appeared in yellow ties for the huge event, well attended by musicians.
