Nono launches own album

When she finally decided to take her solo career to television through the "My African Dream' project, Nono Siile meant business. She wanted to chart own path, marking major departure from the traditional role of a backing vocalist that she has grown to be associated with.

Over the last ten years or so, Nono has become popular as a backing vocalist for each and every local jazz album recorded. She has featured in albums by the likes of Ndingo Johwa, Soca Moruakgomo, Shanti Lo, Punah Gabasiane, the late Duncan Senyatso, to cite but a few.

When it comes to jazz shows, Nono and fellow backing vocalist Nunu Ramogotsi have over time became the two most famous backing vocalists in the country. For Nono, the time of singing behind the scenes is finally over now, after she concluded a recording of her own, an afro-jazz fusion that borrows from Tswana folklore.
