The local music landscape is changing for the worse, after one of the leading local record companies went bust and decided to close its music distribution division.

DDS studios have announced they have taken a conscious decision to close its music distribution wing because of the global recession, which has resulted in poor local music sales. The company also has a CD/DVD mass production unit, as well as a video and film production unit.

The decision to discontinue marketing and distributing of music, leaves local music giants such as Shumba Ratshega, Captain Dira, Ditiro Leero, Gong Master Ketshabile, and Eskimos in limbo. They all had signed marketing and distribution deals with the company, but over the past few weeks, the company has started terminating contracts, and giving the musicians master copies, as well as remaining stock to sell for themselves.
