Miss Botswana Makes History

The organisers of the show say one of their sponsors, Tau Pride, a South African company, supplied the Miss Botswana branded chopper for the crowning ceremony.
"It is very expensive to hire a chopper. It costs P200 000, so the idea was to fly the queen for that moment, so she can see her city," Thapelo Pabalinga of Leapfrog Advertising explained.
At home, Botswana is still lagging in many aspects despite some steps taken to fix the situation. Those living with disabilities are often ignored and shut out from basic rights, access to services, or social participation. A motion tabled in Parliament by Kgatleng Central Member of Parliament, Mpho Morolong, calling for the introduction and adoption of sign language as an official language in Botswana is indeed a welcome development.The deaf...
