The competition kicked off with Total Musica, a kwasa-kwasa dance group from Francistown. Scandals is a kwaito dance outfit, whose members were clad in black suits and white hats.

Although Franklyn did his best to impress, perhaps many were left wondering why an experienced musician like him, who also happens to be a former finalist in the same competition, was competing with mostly debutants.
