Let's Be Original, Urges Hip Hop Star

"Even in our daily lives we should live our own beat, having our own path as individuals, not being carbon copies," is the advice given by one of Botswana's up and definitely coming talents, Otsile 'Donald' Enose, Born and raised in Mogoditshane 22 years ago.

Enose is willing and determined to take hip-hop to a higher level in Botswana.
"Ots Don", as he is fondly known in music circles, admonishes other local performers to be original, instead of aping what others are doing elsewhere so Botswana music can have its identity, which is authentic in every respect.

Enose says he started "feeling music while in his mother's womb" and therefore has a natural love for music. He wrote his first track while doing Standard Six in Mogoditshane. He fell in love with hip hop because it is poetry, the modern way of story-telling, which was done in the olden days by sitting around a fire, and expressing one's self freely and a way to educate the listeners. He says he has worked with the likes of Producers BK Procter, Zambian MJ and emcee's Scar and Talented Underdogs. He would like to work with Nomadic because he feels that he is good and they can come up with something dynamic if they joined forces. He says emcees should use their music to educate their listeners and not as a franchise promoting superficial lifestyles. "Do it for the love and not the money."
