Katuta and co plan for house-kwasa artistes

Four rumba music players have teamed up to form an ensemble targeted at providing top Afro pop musos with a back-up live band. All the four have fallen out with the three top local rumba stars, Frank Lesokwane, Alfred Mosimanegape and Jeffrey Matheatau. The five rumba players who describe themselves as versatile players include Kapenda Katuta, who recently fought with his former employer Matheatau in court, over unpaid dues.

Katuta has not only produced Matheatau's albums, but has also played Afro hits such as Vee Sento's Letlhale, and Wizards of the Desert's Phokoje. Joe Masamba, known for Exodus' hit track, Manyoloi, also played for Lesokwane before they fell out. Caprio Brigadier was also a rumba rapper with Matheatau and Les Africa sounds for a while. Chabu Russell is a drummer who has featured for all the top groups at different occasions.

Speaking in a recent interview with Showbiz, Kasoma said their mission is now to help those who would need their help for studio purposes. "We have just finished helping out Exodus, they have a new album coming out soon. We have also been backing Chris Manto7, courtesy of Small House records. We are not a Small House band per se, but whenever they need us for Manto7's show, we are available," Kasoma explained.
